Dyadic Therapy with Parents and Children

Family systems are complicated! Sometimes, things happen in life that can set a relationship off course. Whatever the reason may be, we are here to help you reconnect and heal. Dyadic therapy offers a chance for parents and children to be treated together, while in relationship with one another. Working together allows us to address the multiple layers of complexity in a parent-child relationship: your needs, your child's needs, and the needs of your entire family. Children depend on their parents to help them grow. We are here to help you grow so that your family relationships can be joyful, fulfilling, and everlasting.

Individual Therapy for Children and Adolescents

Therapy with children and adolescents might look a little different than what you're used to. Unlike adult counseling, which is heavily based in verbal communication, individual therapy for children incorporates a wide variety of methods to help children express themselves, including play, art, story telling, and other experiential activities. Through play, children are able to express themselves in their own unique way, showing the therapist what it's like in their world. When kids feel safe to explore their thoughts and feelings, it paves the way for healthy growth and development. Adolescent counseling is all about addressing the particular challenges that arise as teens begin to explore and develop their own identities. Many adolescents may be interested in a more traditional talk therapy model, which we are happy to accommodate.

Parent Consultation and Support

Parent partnership is a key pillar in child mental health services. Working with kids means working with parents! As we work with your child or family to develop healthy coping skills and foster self-expression, we will also partner with you directly to determine the best ways to address challenging behaviors and create routines that serve your family. Every family is unique and we understand that no approach is one-size-fits-all. Parents and caregivers are the experts on their children, and your input and understanding is valuable. We look forward to meeting with you and building a treatment plan that works for what you, your child, and your entire family need.
